No, No No, C is for Closing.

I’m closing this blog down – simply put, I want to focus on other things and I only have so much time.  Photos of current projects and art will be up over at www.catslye.com and through there is the catslye blog.  So, really, nothing is changing, I’m just going over there.  :)  Thanks to everyone who read and commented on this site.

Visions of Christmases Past

Families and kids opening presents, Santa and tinseled trees, oh my!

Egads!

I mistakenly let my registration for She’s Sew Slye lapse.  How naughty of me.

Working on this right now…

Christmas Eve 1958

IMG_2583

I’m starting early this year, instead of waiting until Thanksgiving to scratch that itch, I thought I’d give myself plenty of time.  Last weekend I spent all Sunday scouring all of the antique stores I could think of looking for vintage photos of Christmases past, and after all day’s effort I only found two images. I swear – where have all the b&w photos gone?? I swear – I remember seeing stacks of them, but now…it’s like someone scoured the shops ahead of me and took every last photo period. !  I was about to lose my mind – I mean, c’mon, really, in the larger scheme of things, yes – vintage photo shopping is rather irrelevant, yea, I get it.  But shit!  I was about to lose my mind.  I had been looking for hours and hours fueled on nothing but caffeine and THIS IDEA of hand making Christmas cards using vintage photos and vintage kids books.   I found three Santa-y related Little Golden Books and then finally…one vintage photo. A gem. It says, Christmas Eve at our house 1958 in pen on the back.  I LOVE their expressions!  Clearly someone is happy and someone is not.  Ouch!  (Since I only found a few vintage photos, I decided to copy them and keep the originals – really, I had this idea that I’d find lots of cool old photos but nooooooo).

Wisconsin Bound

Tomorrow morning I leave for 70 degree temps (which after a Phoenix summer I’m looking forward to, but freaked out at the same time because a 40 degree drop will mean I’ll be freezing!), a week with my sis and best friend.  We’ll be doing lots of antiquing, eating and playing football with my 9 year old nephew, plus some time spent with the folks, seeing old friends and attending the end of the summer event at The Waters.  :)

Buttons and Bows

Yesterday JP and I went up to Prescott for a cool 84 degree day checking out antique stores, this was one of my gem finds.001
