Last Thursday I sewed up a pair of loungey/morning walks with Goody pants in heather gray (really? gray? shocker!), using this pattern from 60s/70s.

I finished them last night, I stitched the bottom hem with two rows of stitching and then pinked the inside seam. The waist is elastic and the patterned called for making a casing out of seam binding, I used a double wide in pale blue and it worked out perfectly.
I’m really pleased, I wore them this morning on our walk and I love how flowy the legs are, I can see using this pattern again, maybe lowering the waistline and raising the crotchline to make them more like current pants, but even without doing that I think they’re super. More pics up on flickr >>.

I have the shirt from the same pattern all cut and ready to start, and two new Frances GoodyBags as well…the rest of today is a Sewing Day. yea!

it’s great to see other people using old patterns. I am about to go through the huge collection that Ma and I have (1950’s to current), with the view to using or throwing out – well maybe try sell some. but it’s so exciting going back and seeing what can work NOW. Hope my resolve sticks and I DO make somethings….inspired when I see others doing it.
thanks CN! don’t throw out! post them on etsy at the very least.
