Remember this? ahh…maybe not, since I never posted it here, but over on flickr…brilliant Slye! Anyway, ok, so today I was able to start piecing it together, seen below.

The large vintage quilt top square is the front face, with rectangular shapes blocking it out to be large enough for the pattern, the back is the smaller vintage quilt top square. As I was putting it together I realized I needed additional contrasting fabric to balance it out and create a pattern, so I pulled some bits and pieces from my collection, black with red cherries, the black with white and gray little flowers and so on.
The rest of the sequence are up on flickr >>
The front square being much larger was easier to work with, or maybe because I started with that one first. On the back face I needed to add fabric to the bottom of the quilt top square to make it the same size as the one on the front, I think it turned out ok, though the Garanimal Girl in me would prefer it to be all perfectly matched up, I decided to let it be what it is and not stress over it.
Now both front and back faces are done I need to cut them exactly the same to the pattern, then sew on a backing of muslin to both for added wearability. I need to make straps for the handles, I think I’ll do them both in two-tone double faced – where the inside and the outside are two different contrasting fabrics, I think I’ll do two different handles – four total fabrics. Then the pockets and the interior lining, then I can start assembling.
Right now I have to dash…first walk Goody, then the Dining for Women dinner tonight.
